Urban Nettle & Katharine
Part crazy brew of her homesteading skills that at one time manifested themselves as an urbanized ruralite and part endearing love for a little plant known as the stinging nettle. Urban Nettle was born as Katharine canned like a mad woman, had her urban garden and carried on for several years a city slicker till she inevitably realized soil embedded fingernails, vast open skies and her community of plants, animals and family outside the city were non negotiable.
Now a full time ruralite with farm and family Katharine still retains her Urban Nettle name but calls their prairie farmstead home. Herbalist, forager and perennial plant wrangler Katharine believes we all have the tools to realign ourselves with our true inner health.
Katharine has trained and apprenticed with Traditional Western herbalists Lise Wolff (2015), Connie Karstens (2016) in Minnesota and studied Traditional Southern Folk Medicine with Phyllis Light (2016 & 2017) in Alabama. She continues to hone her education through various trainings and conferences. Much of her foraging training has been through various sources of friends, books and in-the-field training.
